    S/B, K.O. code, can u identify

I have a S/B chevy engine with a K.O. Broadcast code on front block pad, it's probably a 350 ci., I would be very helpful if someone can identify this engine +/or original vehicle installed from factory. My search leads me to think it's a late 60's, but, I'm not sure. Thanks, Steve

Is the KO the first two characters or the last two? What's the complete pad stamping (and block casting # and casting date, as Bill asked)? Got a photo of the pad?

K.O. is the first letters, there are more #'s that are not visible today as well as casting #'s and date, due to rain in va. The engine is installed in a C-60 chevy dump truck, with 2 sp. rear, that originally had a factory 427. When I got the truck in 1988, the s/b, quadrajet 4-brl,using small spark plugs was installed and was used to pull a trailer and track loader grossed @22 tons. Now the truck in used on a farm and if the engine has some collectability I will replace it as well as a new clutch. I did check 64-67 + up to 71 chiltons engine codes but had no luck, it does not use 1 piece round rear main seal. I think it's sixty's or seventy's, after the rain clears I can get more information. Thanks all for help. Steve

          Steve -

That says the engine was originally cast/machined/assembled at McKinnon Industries (Canada); the pad stamp on McKinnon-built engines always starts with "K" (vs. "F" or "V" for Flint V-8, "T" for Tonawanda, or "S" for Saginaw Service). Without a readable casting number or date, it could be almost anything prior to 1986.

Now the rain has passed, the block casting #'s 3970010, the complete block pad #'s are KO 0927 CKB, the date is not visible without removal of distributor or engine removal. A google search reveals the CKB code was used on 72' nova's and chevelles only, IF that was correct info. Steve

              Steve -

The 010 block says it's a 350, and the CKB suffix was used in many different passenger car applications from '72-'77 (Nova, Camaro, Chevelle, Monte Carlo, Impala, Caprice, El Camino, etc., depending on the year).
