    Late 62 corvette rims. 15x5

Can someone tell me which 5 inch wide wheel came with my 62? Were they dog bone or just straight welded and no indents?

62 15x5 wheels were spot welded and had no dog bones.

        John,

I think this photo is what you are looking for. I just picked up a set for my '61.

          Dennis,
Nice find! Looks like the one in the picture is in nice shape. What is a full set of five nice ones like that worth these days? I located a set of five for my late 60, but found out that some judges don't accept the late 60 with smooth welded rims, so I put together a set of dog bones and will go with them. Just looking to find out what they are worth!

            Greg,

I paid more then I intended to, but I was running out of time. I had been looking for over three years. Unfortunately, at first I was looking for welded wheels with dogbone cut outs. In fact, I still have one of those left. I wanted to be finished with all the painting, so I bit the bullet and bought these.

Most of the wheels I found were riveted. Most of the welded wheels I found were in very bad condition. These wheels were in very good condition with only a few rough edges that I was able to smooth out. Only one required filling of some pits where the bead would sit. I payed $225 per rim. As a bonus, even the date code worked for my car.

                John,

I have the set of 5 smooth welded mentioned in my previous post that I will not be using. I will have to look to see if I can find any dates on them. Any suggestions on what markings to look for would be helpful. You can contact me at gregm@cashwa.com
