67 BB Hood - NOS or POS?

First off, no I did not steal it!

Here's the deal, I'm wanting to sell it. I'm trying to determine if it's the real thing or not. I was kidding about NOS, from the shadow of where the 66 hood emblem was, it sure looks like it was on my (was my uncle's) Nassau Blue 66 at one time. Should the two metal plates held by round head machine screws be there? You can see them in the second picture of the bottom of the hood, mounted near the front of the car on the right hand side. Maybe the box is worth more than the hood!

    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

The pics. are not detailed enough to tell. The hood itself looks alright from afar, but there are no machine screws and added plates on an original.

      Wayne,

Thanks for the info on the plates. They didn't look right to me. What area(s) would you need better pictures of to make a determination on originality?

        Joe,

Sorry but your hood is not original GM issue. It's not worth very much but just cause you're an NCRS member I'll give you $100.00 and pay the shipping.

        Nice guy huh?

Nah, the hood is original and should be worth the big bucks. Put it on E-Babe and let them fight it out! And I would not consider shipping that nice hood. Make em pick it up.

          Hi Joe,
Shouldn't there be an indentation on the right underside of the hood to provide clearance for air conditioned cars?

            Hi Terry,

Sorry, but I don't know the answer to your question. Hopefully one of the 67 big block experts will chime in.

            Joe

Joe my June 67 hood has the indention on it, not sure if all B/B hoods had it, but I would guess they did. Bill

                Bill,

Thanks for the picture. I'm guessing that my hood is a GM service replacement. I don't know why it would be different from yours. Maybe there was two different part numbers for 67 BB hoods, one with A/C and one without? Do you have a 67 Judging Guide? What does it say?

                Thanks,
                Joe

Joe the JM doesn't mention anything about there being a different hood for C60. I think all the inner hood frames were the same? Just different hood skins for SB, BB, & L88?

I have an early 67 big block car and mine has the indentation on the right underside of the hood.

Re: 67 BB Hood - NOS or POS?

I checked the hood over the weekend. It has no indent. In the process, I noticed something interesting on the backside of the box. It's dated 10/23/74. So I think it's very likely that it's a service replacement part. I still don't understand why a replacement hood would not have an indent for A/C. Also, how does its provenance affect its value?
