PART 1: When We Were Young With Our Corvettes - Chapter 32

This is a longer adventure and exceeds our word-count limit.
PART 2 will be posted on Friday.
    Sorry

Corvettes and Mitzi Gaynor and a Whirlwind Trip to Canada

We arrive at the hotel and after securing our luggage and getting directions to the office, I leave her in the lobby to await check-in. It is 10:30 AM.

    Stanley Park

On the way back we pick up Hwy 99 again and head north across the mile long Lions Gate Bridge over Burrard Inlet which gives spectacular views in all directions and now costs nothing as tolls have just been eliminated.

It gained instant popularity when it became the first Vancouver Club to be granted a liquor license. Soon it had earned a reputation of drawing high-quality touring productions and it became the place where Las Vegas performers would rehearse and perfect their routines in front of Canadian audiences before opening on the Strip.

    To Be Continued.

          Greg:

Yep, first stop off the ferry.

Did you know that the Trader Vic's we had drinks at in 1963 was relocated by barge and is now near these Gardens?

Bill, I'll have to look for it my next trip to Victoria...your Victoria journey sounds very much the same as it is today...a few more modern buildings, but the Empress and horse drawn carriage are still the same. Have you been there recently?

              Greg:

              No, I never went back.
One change though....I heard there is no longer car ferry service direct to Seattle anymore, or not from the inner harbour as was then. This I've not confirmed.

You are correct. The only car ferry service today out of Victoria Harbor is the Black Ball's M/V Coho to Port Angeles, WA (across the Strait of Georgia). Besides the BC Ferry, the WA State Ferry serves Swartz Bay thorough the San Juans to Anacortes, WA. There is still a passenger only ferry from Victoria to Seattle, but I have never taken that one.

Glad you had the chance to explore the great NW, even if it was only once...
