Does anyone know how to edit the way my name appears in the Discussion board? I don't use my full first name and would like to change it but can't figure out where>

Hit on user profile at the top of a page - lelt hand side go down to edit profile - hit on there and do your thing it's easy enough if I can do it. Good luck

I think your userID here matches your name on the NCRS membership registry. Maybe to change one you'll need to change the other too.

Nicknames for NCRS members is an issue that the IT team (John Waggoner, Gary Chestnut, Rob Musquetier) has been working on! The Robert/Bob, James/Jim, Katherine/Kathy issue has been with us for a LONG time and not really dealt with in the past...

I'm a John/Jack guy and I've struggled with the nickname issue for MANY years. Turned out that when Rob Musquetier went to 'rationalize' the new system for direct entry of Judging Recognition points, he found a number of points 'floating' (one set for John another set for Jack) which explained why I'd not seen my recognition level(s) rachet upward as I'd expected over the years...

So, the system IS being improved on this score to provide for 'alias' names in the membership data base and my hat's off to our IT team for tackling this issue in their code bending efforts!!!!

I have had some challenges entering judging points for the Advanced Judging Seminars. I was not troubled by the first name similarities Jack cited, but there was one that caused me to think I didn't have the right individual. Consultation with Roy and Rob solved the issue. I think it was something like Skip was the name used and the registered name was William. Anyway, this mamber was well know to Roy, and the issue was easily resolved.

There have been a few other challenges including members who are dyslexic and use the right membership numbers, but in the wrong order. Fortunately I know most of these folks personally, so I can adjust to award the points to the proper person. As we all age I anticipate increasing issues in this area.

Thanks for the input, Michael I'm with you the only person that call me "Wesley" is my mother. So the Long and short of it I should contact membership to make an offical name change, which might trickle down to all the other locations.

Wesley, you must have used Wesley when you joined NCRS as everyone's user name is the name they listed on their NCRS membership form. Your Restorer and Driveline mailing labels have had Wesley on them since you became a member. Gary....

I know you're right, but I joined sooo lloonng ago I can't remember how I filled out the application and of course I didn't keep a copy. Even if I did it probably be decayed beyond recognition. Wesley is of course my legal name, but to most I am usually known as Wes and I am sure a few other names.
Prefer to be known as Wes, but understand how it can cause confusion if all documents don't reflect same info.
