    A/C Unit

My H.O.A doesnt like the window unit I have been useing - apparently it really bothers someone in the neighborhood because you can kind of see it from the road (if your looking for it).
Anyone have a suggestion or a recommendation on a type of portable a/c unit for my garage - 24 x 24 - I'll buy one of these but I dont want to go through the job and the expense of having a larger a/c unit installed

    Check with W.W.Grainger http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/start.shtml
I think they have small portable AC units as well as the old "swamp coolers" . Both are kind of pricey, but would require zero installation and be very portable. Chip.

      Take a look at these.

I've been in the buisness for 20 years and have always had great feedback from customers. In fact I just Air conditioned my own house with these this spring and they work great. I plan on putting one in my garage next spring, same size as yours, a 15,000-18,000BTU unit will do fine depending on insulation, number of windows, etc...

They are a bit pricy but do provide heat as well (If needed). There are some internet companies that sell them direct to the end user and to be honest their prices are not much above my cost, maybe 10%. If you have some basic skills working with copper tubing they can be successfully put in by a homeowner. Good luck!!!

David, I had a neighbor in a previous neighborhood who encountered the same situation. He cut a hole in the garage wall facing the back yard where it could not be seen from the street. It cost a couple of 2X4's for framing.
