    1964 Convertible Body Mount Installation

    Hi,

I'm almost ready to drop the body on the frame. Would one of you kind folks please confirm that the following is the correct sequence? The old shimming is immaterial since AFC rebuilt/restored the frame so I'm starting with single shims rather than referring to what was taken off....

FROM FRONT OF CAR TO BACK

    RAD Radiator
    Bolt UP
    1 U Shim

#1 #1 Body Mount (inside of front fenderwell)
    Bolt DOWN

#2 #2 Body Mount (under front of door sill)
    Bolt DOWN
    1 Shim (ends up)

#3 #3 Body Mount (inside of access compartment in front of rear fenderwell)
    Bolt DOWN
    Lock Washer

INER Inner Body Mount (Inner Rear of Tunnel)
    Bolt DOWN

#4 #4 Body Mount (Inner Rear Trunk)
    Bolt UP

    Thanks!

Re: 1964 Convertible Body Mount Installation

    Drew,

Others may have a different opinion but I would use what came out if you can. It's my understanding the box section of the frame is shimmed flat then on a convertible, shims in the rear and front will adjust door gap. On a coupe, shims in the rear will slightly adjust the body if needed but the back is rigid and the shims just take up the gap. If the rear looks fairly level your done. The front is supposed to be 7/8" lower than the box section (63 here) and you may be able to get a idea how many shims before you start.

When you check shims, make sure the tires are on the rolling frame with weight on the ground, this affects the rear frame section and thus the shim count above the rear tire.
