Stickers for 67 L79 valve covers?

I didn't think the 67 L79 valve covers had any stickers on them.

Either the 350 hp on the side or the Chevrolet #1 Team or the HT yellow code stickers on the passenger side rear end.

    Thoughts?

1967 L-79 did not use horsepower decals on the valve covers. However, some, if not all engines, did have the "Flint #1" label on the right side cover.

As far as the suffix code label, I'm not sure. I expect they had them but I can't say with any degree of certainty.

Right side valve cover front "BUILT BY THE NO. 1 TEAM CHEVROLET" on the rear "HT" for 350 HP. No HP decals. See 67 NCRS Tech. Info. Manual and Tech. Guide.

I know that is what it says, but it cites a 300hp example, where I have seen these stickers.

Just wanted to confirm. I'll order them up and put them on. No biggie.

I believe it was the same for both 300 hp and L-79. However, I'm not so sure that the Flint labels actually were originally applied to all L-79's. For that matter, they may not have been originally applied to all 300 hp, either.

            Joe,

Understood, but the judging manual says they should be there. So, I'm going to add them. It's a sticker, really not that big of a deal. I can always take it off later.

I agree; that's the thing to do if judging is a consideration. I've got to say, though, that I always thought those Flint labels looked kind of "funky" on the front of an L-79 valve cover.

The Tonawanda big block valve cover labels looked fine, but the Flint small block labels looked "funky". That may be why they only lasted about 1 model year.

Totally agree with you. When I took my very original car apart, I didn't see ANY evidence that the valve covers had any stickers on them.

Re: Stickers for 67 L79 valve covers?

Hey all, for what it's worth I have the original set of valve covers on my L79 Smog coupe 67 and the original Flint sticker is still there, and in aged but decent condition. The HD stickers are toast, but there is evidence they were there at one time. I just recently posted a post inquiring into the correctness of the HT HD or HH decals on the rear of the passenger valve cover. They are supposed to be there, from what my research has discovered. LI Corvette has the only ones that I found that are a one piece decal, meaning BOTH letters regardless of wht they are (HT HD HH) are in one decal and NOT 2 separate letter decals as Corvette Central sells. Figured I would toss my 2 cents in. Good luck.....ARA

See page 252 in the Dobbins midyear book for a photo of an original 350hp valve cover with the "Flint #1" sticker.
