I'd replace the freeze plug and drive it like I stole it. If you feel the need to preserve the original engine (which you would probably never wear out) and install a replacement have at it. It is, after all, your ride

What would Zora do? Stroker kit....... looks like a small block, sounds and pulls like a Big Block but weighs 500 lbs less..

You can skip the answers to my latest questions.

No fast burn heads, no roller-rockers, no stroker, no crate motor.

I want a 1970 LT1 engine that is expendable, so that is what I am going to assemble. I can skip on the date codes, but it will be the correct block and heads with direct replacement modern internals. No upgrades other than improved materials, manufacturing processes and of course head work. I can spend all winter accumulating the parts and start assembly in early spring. October through April is almost all garage time anyway.

I feel so much better now that I have returned to my senses!
