If it still over heats, then consider colapsed or pinched hoses keeping in mind that a hose can look fine idling but under high rpm conditions, they can squeeze down restricting flow.

Was the coolant replaced and if it was, was it a 50/50 mix?

I'll go out on a limb here. If the fan was removed, could it have been re-installed backwards? I had to ask

I thought about the hoses but they are new and the lower has the coil in it.

Coolant was replaced per Duke's suggestion with a very good flush, G05 & distilled water. 50/50 mix.

I was careful to observe the "front" marking on the fan.

One thing occured to me, I bought a repro dist cap at carlisle from Paragon & installed that. Could it be indexed different from the prior one advancing my timing (i've never seen that)?

I'll have some time to tinker this weekend.

When you replaced your radiator, you were not careful in sealing the gap between IT and the fan shroud. Make sure that there are NO gaps, at all, between these two items, completely around the entire periphery. Seal with adhesive backed foam strips which can be found at any hardware store. Also, verify that the fan is correctly oriented fore-and-aft in the shroud. Correct placement should have the blades 1/2 in and 1/2 out of the shroud. These cooling systems, even with a brand new radiator have almost zero over-design capacity. There is virtually NO margin for error.

I also have a 327/300 no air. I experienced the same situation a couple of years ago. My engine began to run hot for no apparent reason afte 40 years without a problem. I went through the same tiral and error that you are, including a new radiator. The answer???? A bad sending unit. Don't believe the gauge, the engine may not be hot . Check it with a IR thermometer.

For a cap to be indexed enough to advance your timing curve to cause this condition would have to be glaringly obvious if you put the caps side by side Brian.
Did you by chance change out the water pump as well? I ask only because I had a 426 that I changed out the water pump and didn't pay attention that the impeller was significantly smaller causing me fits trying to figure why.
As was discussed in prior threads, just because it's new doesn't mean it won't have problems. You could have a restriction issue with the new radiator. I know that's not what you want to hear, but if you start replacing your new components with you old ones and the over heating issue remains, then the radiator might be your culprit.
Hope it's a quick fix Brian.

          Chuck
