    What are the paint marks on L98 water pumps?

      My hunch is they're a balancing mark. I think the practice started in the '72-73. At that point in time, the AIM books show an assy note telling factory workers to install the fan clutch (also marked with a daub of paint to align with the corresponding paint mark on the water pump shaft...
