I questioned the fellow at Apple Hydr. about the silicone fluid issue because I seen a reference about not using it on their website as well. He explained to me that there has been instances where silicone fluid caused the seals to swell, he said typically you would not see a problem immediately, but after a month or so you could start noticing a "spongy" pedal. He said it really depended on the seals used, and also the silicone fluid used. He stated be sure to use a high quality silicone if you are going to use it. Additionally he claimed that most "Corvette guys" seem to use silicone fluid without a problem but he has seen several cases with some european cars brake systems that did not respond well to silicone.

[quote=Larry Mulder (20401);441807]In the past, White Post has stated that their rebuilt master cylinders should not be pressure bled and that DOT 5 silicone fluid should not be used.

I believe they use DOT 3 or 4 as an assembly lube and don't want customers disassembling their rebuilt product to clean, then reassemble with DOT 5. (I no longer use White Post after a 'workmanship' issue on a '66 p/b m/cyl a few years ago.)
