    Condition points for Duntov Judging...

I have a fairly general question for you 'all.

Over the last 2 years the exhaust system pipes, front springs and some other natural parts have gotten light surface rust on them.

Will there be a significant deduction for this?

It would be a GREAT undertaking to remove these parts and remove the rust. I hate to even think how much time and work.

Otherwise the car has not changed since it was judged in Kissimmee and Waco 2008 and PV in 2009.

Just wondering if I need to put it up blocks this winter and start tearing it apart ..

removing your exhaust ain't that much work so that shouldn't be such a big problem. Working on your front coils is a bit more fun but still doable (spray them with casting color paint like you can also do with other casting components).

See it as having twice fun out of one investment (so you don't have to buy another car!!!)

    regards,
    Rob.

The PC7 I think are the letters from Quanta that makes rusted parts look better to the judge. WD 40 will do about the same thing on the exhaust. I would treat them now and see how you like the finish. I would not paint them because rust gets about the same or a larger deduction than paint. I have screwed up other things tearing apart a car to gain points so I think that is a bad idea in this case.

        Bill -

I'd leave it alone. The shiny half-shafts caught my eye before any of the minor surface rust.

Bill, I agree with John that it's not productive to disassemble for only minor surface rust. These cars were shipped on open traincars from St Louis which could easily produce surfare rust prior to owner taking delivery. Think you're good to go!
