    Alternator Mounting Bolt --

    Hey ---

What would be a typical head mark for the 1-1/4" mounting bolt?
I have the incorrect aftermarket and want to get the right one for the car.

    Thanks in advance.

Bill, the correct markings is WB w/three lines , I asked this question a few months ago for my 72 sm. block. also I beleive that TR ,RSC. the bolt length is not suppose to extend pass the threaded end on alternator .a dark split lock washer and a .90 thick washer.

Rich - thanks for the clarification.

Would you know if configuration that Ed mentioned for the size and color of the flat and lock washers are the same for a bigblock with PS?

            Bill,

yep it's the same. BB with PS just switches the mounting position but the bolt is the same. Sometime in 68 (I think) they switched from the star washer to a regular split ring lock washer. Also leaning more twards the grade 5 as opposed to the grade 2.

Most of the 1969L to 1972 alternator adjusting bolts I see are WB, Grade 5, but here is an unusual one from a mid-production 1970. Please don't follow the herd and buy the reproduction WB Grade 5. It is all too obvious.

                Terry - Thanks.

I found this grade 5 bolt and purchased it. I have several other "rsc" bolts on my car.

                It seemed feasible.
