'73 and '74 Engine Suffix Code Label

Has anyone heard of this label being reproduced. I have seen original ones and ones that have been homemade on people's home computer.

Where can you get a original one or excellent reproduction with the exception of buying a correct used or valve cover?

    Thanks..

Peter, I dont think they make a reproduction label and if they did chances are there not totaly correct, I made one from my computer for my 72 small block, you'll have to play with the color and letter size, there was a recent post on the suffix label and it gives you the label size, if theres a suffix label, the deduct is less than not one at all.

I had someone point out a real label at a meet a few years ago. I did not tell him that it was one I had made. I have seen only one or two real 73 labels.
I never seen a 73 Corvette label at a swap meet on a valve cover. Grease pencil marks but not labels.

Lyle, the one I saw, the label was in much better shape than the valve cover or I would h ave tried to purchased it. I guess there is not much going on with the engine in the very back of the valve cover on the passenger side. The middle of the cover was dented pretty bad!

I'll try and have this guy take a pic of the label and send it to me. Then I'll try and get it on the TDB.

I think the one you have was not on a Corvette from the factory.

I'll note it now as I did then, it is the same suffix as a passenger car and I don't think Flint used different labels for Corvette engines vs passenger car engines. The format is very similar to what I've seen in later years so I have no reason to doubt that it's a GM piece. So, there is no reason it couldn't be a Corvette label.

Picking a valve cover up at a swap meet and thinking it is from a 73 Corvette is a poor place to look for original TFP. The three letter code and the orange valve covers were the same for other year cars than 73's. Could it match an early 77 label you have?I agree you have a nice example of an engine suffix code on that cover and GM may have used the same stickers on all Flint small block engines. At this point I have never seen a label configered like the example you have on a Bowtie car or any 73 I have seen on the judging field anywhere. Until a label like you have shows up on the judging field on a 73 I won't need to deal with it.
Post the picture again of the complete valve cover to refresh my memory.
