To clear things up a bit, if the 8 with two dots (2nd wk of Aug) is the casting date; then is the P1110 which is stamped on the flange the date that the tranny is matched up with the motor thus having the vin # stamped at the same time? In my case, the vin 41050xx which matches my motor has P1106 which preceeds the build date of Nov 14th My 64 also has the 8 and two dots.

The 2nd week of August is the casting date, and the P1110 (November 10th) is the assembly date of the transmission at Muncie. The VIN derivative stamp was done at St. Louis shortly after the transmission was bolted to the engine.

Wow! they were cranking those puppies out. Eight days from assembly at Muncie to assembly to the motor in St Louis on my car. Was that the norm? Thanks for the clarification.
