my car came with the factory louver trim pieces. the chrome along the edges are all good however the silver paint inside is less then desireable. is there a particular silver paint that I should use to restore these? at least I'm guessing it's paint, sure looks like it.

They were painted inside as you said. I had the same issue. I used an argent silver, but I don't recall brand. You can probaly get very close to the original color if there is still some paint on the ones you have. Just go to your local auto parts store and match it up as close as you can. If you're not havng it judged it's less of an issue. I've never lost any judging points for the color on mine.
