When was the build sheet printed? I seem to recall that in the truck plants there was a printer at the beginning of the final assembly line - i.e. the point where the car carrier exited the holding area where the vehicle shells cooled after exiting the oven. A worker pulled the build sheet off the printer and taped it to the truck.

If they did something similar in BG, it wouldn't make sense to have a build sheet print date of 12/7 and an engine assembly date 12/19. I'm thinking the date on the build sheet must represent something else.

    Thanx,

I think the date you see on the build sheet is the date the order was accepted by the plant for production and the sheet was formatted (and the material requirements were forecast/transmitted), not the date it was printed. There were printers all over the plant (mostly in subassembly areas that fed the main line in sequence), and the build sheets that were actually used on the line were usually printed less than an hour before they were needed.

Thanx John. This makes sense to me and reflects what I had seen in other GM assembly plants during the late 80's and early 90's. It also aligns with the other date codes on my car. Soooo...

...if my build sheet has a production scheduling date of 12/7 and the engine assembly date is 12/19. What is the "probable" date that my car rolled off the end of the line - assuming that it didn't spend any time in the problem correction area? The sticker on the driver door only says Dec 1995. But 12/19 (plus a few days on the train to BG) would put it right on top of the Christmas shutdown. Is it likely that my car was actually completed in January of 1996?

        Floyd -

I'm not familiar with how to determine the production date of a C4; suggest you start a new thread with that as the subject so C4-knowledgeable folks can pitch in.
