    Bob McDorman Auction

Bob McDormpan is having a big auction this weekend (11th-12th). I have been on site and the parts are incredible (all sell Friday the 11th). 10 sets of REAL KO wheels; 2 sets REAL 67 bolt on wheels; 5 FI units most with distributors; 63-65 FI air cleaners; 5 sets of 2-bar spinners; several C1 C2 C3 hoods; hundreds of pieces of origianal C1 C2 ignition shielding; 15 convertible top frames; 10 hardtops; two dozen intake/carb, two 2x4 setups with CORRECT carbs; 40 sets of hubcaps from NOS 56-58 to 66, pluse several sets of 67 rally wheels; here's the big one -- a set of FIVE SR2 STYLE 57 KO WHEELS COMPLETE WITH AXLES AND HUBS. Plus, 400 pieces of memorabilia to be sold on Friday, and 600 neon signs. Bob has been a BIG supporter of NCRS for many years, lets show our support of this auction, and get an opportunity at some SUPER items.

We were debating on another board... is Bob ill?

It seems unusual to part with the signs et al it he's in good health.

Or is he just selling it so that his estate doesn't have to?

Bob is fine. I spent time with him yesterday and he is in tip top shape -- he and I have been friends for about 30 years. But remember that he is nearly 80, and over the last few years has been t******* his collection back. And lets not forget whats happening to GM car dealers -- in Columbus they cut the number of Chevrolet dealers from 8 to 4, and Bob McDorman is one of those four. He has sold nearly 200 hundred cars from his collection in the last few years, but still has about that many and they are incredible; he has an accumulation of parts that he has built for some 25-plus years, but really doesn't need anymore; the 400 lots of memorabilia comprise some 700-plus pieces, and he still has a personal collection he is keeping; and his neon sign collection is second to none.

        Tom,
I did not know that Bob was selling so many parts at this auction. I checked the Mecums website and did not see those items listed. I just thought that it was a sign only auction. I was supposed to go but changed my mind, my loss. I bet there will be some good deals to be had.

Did I Read This Right. Mcdorman Lost His Chevrolet Franchise?

I should have been more clear. Bob is one of the 4 remaining, he has not lost his franchise. Sorry.

I read it the way you intended.

I think trying to ommunicate here is a little like writing a judging manual.
