Happened to me today someone hit my "other" baby in the parking lot. pics of damage.

Not my corvette but it is my other toy my 87 350 FI silverado with 64k original miles on it.

This truck has no dings, paint work, bondo etc nowhere it's super a super straight until now.

original paint, well it was re-painted in 91 under gm's clear coat recall it didn't need it but why not take advantage of a free paint job incase the clear coat did go early down the road.

someone scraped the front passenger fender while I was in walmart today, didn't leave a note or anything! It burns me up how people don't care...nothing major, not the end of the world but since they didn't own up to it and get the store to contact me or even leave a note makes me mad about it

    here is the truck

here is a picture of the damage it creased the fender just barely but not sure what to do now have it fixed (i hate bondo) or look for an original fender.

If you use it (and sometimes even if you don't use it), it will get damaged, no matter how careful you are. It is not a matter of if, only of when. Still, it sure does piss you off when it happens.

Unfortunately, the days of leaving a note and phone number under the wiper are pretty near gone.

It still hurts though. I hope you can buff it out a bit and make it less aggravating to you every time you see it.

We just purchase a new Ford Edge 2 weeks ago and it is going into the body shop on Tuesday to repair parking lot damage to the tune of $600. Same thing-noticed it after getting home. Thank heavens for Broad form collision.

At least you know where it happened. Most of the mysterious digs and scratches on my vehicles are discovered in my driveway. I can only guess where the scene of the crime was. Usually there is paint from the offender left on my vehicle.

Ouch! Yeah it's horrible how people have that no care attitude. Thing is a lot of times you'll see people pile out of a nice chevy z71 tahoe or something to that affect which is around 50k new and nearly hit the car beside them or something. So, you can't go by the cond of the vehicle you park beside a lot of times.

Hate to hear that and on a brand new vehicle..

to the guy above, the picture is after I hit the damaged area with my portable cable 7424 orbital buffer with pinnacle HD swirl remover, intermediate swirl remover then fine..it hardly phased it.

the paint work doesn't bother me too bad but the crease in the sheet metal is what turns my stomach

Wal-Mart security camera might have caught it!

Yes the the cameras are there. Too long a story to get into. But 2 yrs. ago My 67 L79 Vette was keyed. Small scar. Left the car for 15 mins. Saw a cop. Chased him down. Thats a story in itself. 67 Vette running down a Cruiser! He came to the scene pointed up at the Roof. Said, "I know the security people". The in-bred dirt-bag, was a 50 plus yrs old, Go figure. So do check with Wal-mart. Never kown give em time apx and dates.

                    Hi Brandon,
I see so many people pulling into a parking space now steering with one hand and and looking with one eye because of that important cell phone call.
I think I know how you feel. It makes you mad but also a little hurt. I'm sorry your baby had to get a temporary scar.
                    Regards,
                    Alan

Very aggrevating I know, last week someone tried to throw a cinder block through my car window. Much to my surprise (and theirs too I'm sure) it didn't break the window, only scratch and nick the hell out of it. Just for good measure they made a second attempt and were sure to get the door and the mirror for me. No respect.

Sorry to hear it Brandon, but all is not lost. There are people who can "work" the dent/crease out with a series of picks from the inside. They may have to cut a hole in the inner bed/fender wall to get at it, but it will not affect the paint on the outside and the hole is an easy repair. Talk to some body shops or some insurance people about it. I've only heard a description of how it is done, but the two who have had this done swear by it.

As for Don's comments, I have to respectfully disagree. I've parked in parking lots for 38 years and I've only had three door dings, and no creases or deliberate scratches. There is a trick to parking in parking lots. I'll explain it if anyone is interested.

                          Paul,
Now there is a pregnant question if ever. I have parked out on the ends of a lot, a distance from everyone only to find a school bus and a cement truck on either side of me when I returned.

Share please, I am interested. Thanks.

That reminds me of parking my '59 at the far end of a K-Mart lot in Rockford, IL in 1970. I came back to find some yahoo parked 6 inches from it. There were no other cars for 50 feet. No damage...just giving me some grief I guess. I had a gas station jockey in Rockford tell me he'd shoot me if he saw me riding my Harley near his house (Easy Rider syndrome?).

                            We moved in Jan. 1971.

                              Paul

                              Brandon,

The people you want are called "Dent Busters", or at least they are called that in Arizona !www.dent-busters.com/

They mainly do small creases and hail damaged cars, but they do it without ever touching the paint !

Like you, I hate door dings and have managed to go for years without getting any. On my 1999 Caddy, I managed to go 4 years without one . Then upon leaving my office one day I saw a huge tree limb covering the entire hood of the car !

After two local bids for both repainting and replacing the hood I decided to take it to "Dent Busters" The Manager there Nearly had a heart attack . He stated that they didn't do jobs that big and that it would cost a ton if they did ! (I don't remember the price quoted, but I do remember barely being able to keep a straight face when he told me the remarkably low quote)

Long story short : they did the entire hood flawlessly , I needed no paint, and I pocked $200 from the insurance check on the lower of the two bids, even with a $500 deductable policy.

                              Good luck !!

                              Jim
