    71 LT1 Conv. at Mershons

Does anyone have any information regarding this 71 LT1 convertible? I'm interested in the car. Do you think Ontario orange would hurt the resale value down the road?http://www.mershons.com/view_photo.a...image=Exterior

    VIN is 194671S102783

    Thanks,

    Tim

Actually the earth tone colors of the early seventies is now back in vogue. Ontario Orange, War Bonnet Yellow, Donneybrook Green are more in favor with car enthusiasts than they were 5 or 6 years ago.

Depends on the specific taste of your buyer (orange). I CAN tell you that exterior color is POPULAR and in-demand in Holland. Why? The Queen represents the House of Orange...

I am not familiar with that particular car but Ontario Orange is a great looking color that appears to be back in style as others have said. Some derivations of that color are being used on C6's. Looks like a nice car from what you can tell in pics. Good luck.

That was my first choice in colors when I was looking for my car. I ended up with green/green and I still fantasize of painting it Ontario Orange. It's too nice a car to do it though. War Bonnet yellow is a close second.

            Tim,

It looks exterior color wise as a real nice color combination to me. We don't get to order the colors on 38 year old cars. I like the color but I would not let the color stop me if that was the only thing I objected to on the car. LT-1's are a good investment from what I have heard. You will need to verify all the claims of the original motor with a personal inspection. You will want to have Mershon's put it on a lift and check it out there too. Good luck!

I'm sure you noticed the missing smog setup and the replacement M/C.

Timothy I believe this is the same car they had at Carlisle. From what I remember when my friend and I looked at the car. Exterior The paint was a shade or 2 off the PO2's where showing there age mirror large head and a few other details that I don't recall. I think the windshield was a replacement maybe wrong on that looked at about 20 cars. Interior shifter knob not black chrome both seat recovered and overstuffed, carpets replaced don't remember the door panels if I even looked. Engine water pump not typical smog missing, alternator, incorrect hose clamps, Evap hoses and PCV connection, air cleaner lid replacement, Vacuum hose miss routed and the master cylinder. Chassis just looked at the exhaust replacement type. This was about a 5 min look not a heavy check of items. If you are interested in the LT-1 make sure you take a hard look with the help of knowledgeable people before you make a decision on the car and do your homework. The details make the difference on Corvettes like these. The few items in the engine compartment if you are looking to have the judged could cost you $2500 just to make right. Plus there maybe more like the Carburetor etc just add to the cost to make it right. Sorry that I rambled on but at that price you need to protect yourself. As Terry said get on a lift that will tell you alot in a short time. Paul 18046

The interior is standard but the seats look like delux leather replacements. Ed

I saw the car at the Kruse Auction in Auburn this past weekend. There are a number of inconsistancies. I did not get a chance to see the pad stamping. Overall it was nice, a VG driver or weekend show car. If the #'s are OK it could be brought to NCRS stds w/o a lot of difficulty. It was very clean.

I saw it on Sunday at the Kruse auction. I didn't look it over closely but it gave me the impression of a nice driver quality car. I agree that the paint looked off. I am a fan of Ontario Orange and this car just didn't look quite right to me.
