It has been a fun and rewarding experience searching the history of my car, and there is no question that I have been very lucky to have found what I have so far. With some patience and a little luck, I was able to locate and speak to six of the seven previous owners of my car (all but Owner #1). They have all told me very interesting bits of information about the history of my car that I would have never known otherwise, and although it doesn't appear that they have any original documents, they each are looking for old photos to send me. So far, the best surprise was receiving the original ignition key in the mail from Owner #5. That was very cool!! Owner #2 told me some interesting stories of his 12 years of ownership, verbally painted a picture of "playboy" Owner #1 and his harem, and remembered the original dealer's name. Having a timeline of my car, and getting to know a little bit about each of the previous owners, has been a time-consuming, but extremely worthwhile experience. And it's far less expensive than doing a frame-off restoration!
