C3 1971 Jack storage compartment color

My jack storage compartment looks to have been painted black but I can see the fiberglass cloth, very similar to the tire tub, which is NOT painted.

Does anyone know the correct finish? Thanks

My 71 is as you describe. A little blacker than the tire tub but in my opinion it is unpainted. A few scratches from jack removal show a lighter grey beneath the black finish. I believe the black is more a cured finish to the fiberglass much like the tub. A few scratches in my tub reveal the same scenario. Mike

I have as you describe, some scuff marks from wrestling with the "jack in the box" I also have some light rust on the hold down plates so maybe I will just brush and dab them a bit with some semi-flat.
