I've never taken my car to a show and left it over night. What do you all do with/for your cars in this instance? Do you always pack a waterproof cover?
Just thinking ahead to next year.

        Valeria,

You could submit an application to the NCRS Gallery X and in that case your car would be inside under a roof with security for the entire weekend.

Valeria, its only water, the cars can handle it no problem.
          Not to worry.

I don't agree, My car is 50 years old and I've her for 30 of them and am on the 2nd restoration. This is not cheap. Moisture may be my friend but is not my car's friend.

If you are really concerned about moisture and can absolutely not get the car wet............. an enclosed trailer is the only way to go. Show the car, when you are done, put it in the box.

I do know my car has been restored to near perfection and there were guys and gals with cars much nicer than mine out in the rain at Carlisle, so I know a little rain won't destroy them !!

No such thing as a water proof cover. Rain doesn't hurt Corvettes, sitting around in the damp does.

                  Valerie,
I presume you are more concerned about the car leaking rain water than you are with the exterior of the car getting wet. If so, put a good quality cover on it and don't worry as the car will be protected from the sun, rain, ice, snow and probably moderate hail. I have had good luck with the covers I use that were purchased from Mid-America. Only problem is that they are a hassle on a road trip because they take up beaucoup space.
                  Best regards,

                      ...ah....not the vettes....

-aluminum rivets against steel. I would get fired for that at work when we design stuff. Worst combination for corrosion.

-pockets that will hold water on the frame: top of the front spring towers, upper a-arms, #4 body mount on the body side

                      - holes through the floor boards where the bolts go through to hold on seat belts, seats , #4 body mount(captive nut totally rusts out)

-Under body reinforcement for rear compartment hinge and the tranny tunnel bracket lap belt reinforcement--both not painted or protected in any way

-various suspension parts not painted: diff, spindles etc.

                      etc. etc.

None of which get wet on a car parked overnight in the rain. Again, storage in the damp is the real problem.

I had a great time again at Carlisle, as usual for me. It downpoured a short time Friday and again on Saturday, but you just stand under one of the vendors tent until it stops and then proceed onward thru the swap meet aisles. No big deal for buyers, certainly a pain in the neck for vendors to keep their wares dry and covered. I saw several people wearing clear plastic ponchos, looked like a great idea, but wasn't really necessary as the rain only lasted maybe 15 minutes or so each day.

Yes they are designed to be driven outdoors. Until this last week my newly restored '72 was a rain "virgin". Well that's the past. If we care about the cars they will be brought home and well dried, manually and through dehumidifiers. The oldie is drying as I type! Keep driving, thats the fun!!!
