    Question about a 69 l36 7029215 carb

On a car I'm looking at I verified it has a quadrajet 7029215 carb on it.

right after the 7029215 it said 2 more digits I couldn't really make them out leaning over the car I could only make out the 7029215 because I kinda knew what numbers to look for (i wear contacts my eyes are horrible!)

anyway It looked like 68 or something after the 7029215 it oculda been letters? no clue.

question is, does that sound correct or is this a service replacement carb or something? I thought there would be a 4 digit date code after the 7029215 numbers...

any help is appreciated, looking at this car at carlisle so tomorrow I'll be looking at it again.

    Brandon,

The numbers are correct for a '69 with 427/390 4 speed. Rochester Quadrajet carbs will have a 4 digit date code next to the part number, however some Rochester carbs were manufactured by Carter for GM and will be so identified. Carter - built Quadrajets carbs use a different date code than Rochester built units. The code for Carter is MY, where the first digit is the month and the last digit is the year. A 68 after the part number would be June of 1968. Good Luck

Ah ok because I was pretty sure it had the numbers 68 after the 7029215.

so, thats an indicator that it was made by carter correct?

man wish I had known that, that and a few other things turned me away from the car I figured with a 2 digit code instead of a 4 digit it must have been a rebuilt carb the dealer put on or something.
