    exhaust strap?

My '70 (350) has two straps bolted to the frame where the pipes go through the crossmember. One of them is attached to the exhaust clamp, the other is not connected. I don't see them in the AIM or judging manual. Are they supposed to be connected to the exhaust clamps?

U69 section of the AIM. Yes one end connects to the exhaust clamps and the other end goes to the cross member.

I believe this "feature," which the mid-year and 1969 guys love, ended with the change in distributor shielding during the 1970 model year. It is one of the "tests" for original side pipe configuration -- of course that does us 1970 and newer folks not one wit of good.

      Sure it does.
If a 70 or newer has side pipes, it's pretty much a full deduction.

Sure Pat, but I hope you don't need those ground straps to tell you that.
