the starter number is 1108430 C 1 7 . on the other side at the edge the number is 6 9 1. THIS STARTER IS ON MY 66 BIG BLOCK. cAN ANYONE IDENTIFY IT ? THANKS DUTCH

1977 GM engine 350-396-454 CI with auto trans. Interchange manual doesn't give enough info to know if it was Std duty or HD version.

The GM #1108430 starter was first used for the 1970 model year for 350 cid 4 barrel and 454 applications and continued to be used for several model years thereafter. It was a "high torque" model, but was never available in SERVICE. For SERVICE, the GM #1108429 was used.

The 1108430 was originally fitted with an aluminum nose designed for use with 168 tooth flexplates. However, if it resides on a 1966 big block now, then it's likely been through a commercial rebuilding operation and has been reconfigured with a cast iron nose and, perhaps, different internal parts than the frame originally contained.
