    need solenoid

I hope someone can help me identify my starter so I can replace with the correct solenoid to fit. The numbers on my starter reads 1108430 C 1 7 DELCO-REMY. There are also 3 numbers on the other side that read 6 9 1 . Where can I BUY the solenoid? Thanks DUTCH

    Re: need solenoid

    Several options here:

    (1) Go to your FLAPS and buy a service replacement starter solenoid for your car/starter from their book.

    (2) Do #1, then find a scrap yard and pull an original Delco Remy solenoid with black Bakelite rear cover, do a transplant of the original Delco cover onto the service replacement solenoid, paint the solenoid semi-gloss black and install it. You'll 'fool' maybe 50% of the chassis judges who are in too much of a hurry to verify the solenoid's original Delco Remy emboss.

    (3) Look hard and long AND be prepared to pay a healthy price for either a nice used original or NOS Delco Remy 1114356 starter solenoid and do the restoration job faithfully...

If you are looking for "fit" any car parts NAPA, ADVANCED AUTO, place have them.

If you are looking for the correct part number then you'll need to look at the Corvette Vendors etc.

FYI, the 8430 starter was used on 350's from 1970 until the late 1970's, so the one you have is probably March 1977. The big blocks used a different number. The correct solenoid for a 66 small block is the 4344. A 66 big block would have had the 4356.
