Re: Battery needed for a 66 vette
Harry,
I tried the Optima battery for my 66 but wasn't comfortable with the spacers required to make the battery fit the battery tray. I think the battery comes with a height spacer but you'll also need a spacer for depth as I recall. AC cars (like mine) also have a top mtg clamp with angle brackets that did not fit the Optima correctly. I know the Optima is a better battery technology but I went with the best Delco I could get. Fits the tray nicely.

Re: Battery needed for a 66 vette
I was in a delimina as to what battery to buy for my 85. My 85's Delco battery was doing great until I left the fog lights on one morning and installing the car cover did not notice I left the lights on. The Delco was dead since it drained for 8 1/2 hours. Got a jump and drove home. My 9 year old Delco would not hold more than 10.7 volts now. Very good service life though.
I was trying to decide between another Delco or a Interstate Mega-Tron.
Decided to get a AC Delco Professional 75-7YR that has 700CCA. This battery has a 50 month free replacement with the rest of the 7 year warranty is prorated.
I was told Johnson Controls makes batterys for AC Delco and Interstate. The Interstate battery had a 24 month free replacement.- Top

You could try Antique Auto Battery in Hudson, OH. www.antiqueautobattery.com

We have also bought from Restoration Battery both very good to deal with. We went with Antique this past Saturday as they are local to us.
