At two recent ncrs events I was docked points for having lock washers on the thermostat housing bolts on my 62, 300hp with a cast iron intake and housing . The judging guide reads no L. washers on the aluminum housing but judges assume there should not be any on the cast iron housing. On page 14 and 16 of the owners guide shows what I think are clear pictures of the bolts with L.washers. If you are writing a new Judging Guide maybe you can investigate this question. The judging guide now reads:"Cast iron thermostat housing (cast 3711268) is used with cast iron intake manifold equipped models, painted engine color, and is attached with bolts. Aluminum intake manifolds used an aluminum (unpainted) thermostat housing (cast 3837223) attached with nuts (no washers used) to studs in manifold.......".
The confussion could be elliminated by adding L. washers to statement cast iron housings attached with bolt and L. washers.
Thank You,
Jerry
