    1954 rubber hood blocks

The hood blocks that attach to the front cowl to support the hood in the front of 54 Vettes don't seem to be available.
They are availabe for 56-57. Are they the same or similar enough to pass for 1954, or where can they be found.
Along the same line, almost every 54 vette I have seen has the front of the hood above the level of the front cowl. Mine fit perfectly until I installed the front hood springs. Is this correct?

Yes the springs push the leading edge of the hood up slightly and out of alignment. I purchased my hood blocks from corvette central. If not available try corvette rubber or carol at grossmuellers.

I've tried explaining this a thousand times over the years to people on how the hood hinges work. The hood block holes are elongated so that you can adjust the thicknesses of the hood line to the body only. The pop ups are for lifting the front hood so to clear the body when lifting the hood open . The hinges have TWO arms , ONE is to support the hood and the other is to compress the pop ups when the hood is closed . How it works is how you adjust the hinges that I've told many members over the years.
If your using repro pop-ups that's your first problem. and 54 dont use rubber ,there fiberglass

We say fiberglass but I believe they are just fiberglass resin. You can buy a set of rubber ones and use them to make a mold and pour yourself a set of resin blocks. Easy to do. While you're at it you can make several sets to sell to others.

troy: i agree. there is no apparant fiberglass strands in our 54 hood blocks but i wouldn't want to break one in two to check for glass strands. hence , you are probably correct in that the original blocks were resin/accelerator only in composition.mike
