i was under my car and noticed the tag on the sway bar it was 3871318. i recently id'd the original, as i know it to be, front sprngs as being standard 427, but a quick google led me to believe this is an F41 sway bar.is that correct? my springs are 3888250 with EB. my shocks are EN front and EP rear. my leaf is an up dated mono spring. what does this add up to? the car is an L72

Re: front sway bar on a 1966
Anyone have a 7/8" stabilizer bar for my 3/4"? Cleaned up mine and got ready to install and realized I have the wrong one for my 427 '66. Guess at some point in it's past someone thought they could soften the ride with the small block bar.Who knows!

If you do not find exactly what you are looking for the sway bars on the late shark cars (mine is an 80) are bigger, and can be installed with liitle modificaiton. I just checked mine at roughly 1 1/8". Probably looks more correct from a distance anyway. These are very plentiful and easy to find. Might not help in a judging situation.

Bill
Where was the tag on your front sway bar located?
My '66 big block still had the EB tags on the front springs but the sway bar tag was missing (I've owned thr car for 34 years), and I'd like to replace it with a repro at least.
Thanks,

I don't think the stabilizer bar on any C2 had a part number tag. I think replacement/service bars may have had a tag though. Or someone put a reproduction tag on it that shouldn't be there.- Top

Re: front sway bar on a 1966
Bill,
As far as I know F41 was only available on L72s. However not all L72s were equipped with F41. Standard 427 Suspension calls for a 7/8" front Swaybar, EB Coils. F41 calls for 15/16" Swaybar and EA Coils. I don't know the ratio between L72 std vs. L72 F41. Maybe the Noland Adams Book can shed some light on this question.
Regarding Swaybar Label: Long Island Corvette lists them for different applications. According to them the Label is attached on the RH side leg in an overlaping fashion ( not like a coil tag/flag.)
Michael,
If the Swaybar Label were not used as the cars were built, what did the factory use to ensure that the correct bar went to the corresponding chassis??
