    C1 Parking Brake Cable

I thought I was all set to finish working on the rear undercarridge this weekend, just having to install the rear stabilizer bar and the new parking brake cables - surprise!

I started removing the existing cable and went to open the box of the new cable to find a plastic sheathed cable. The cable currently on the car is a wire wrapped cable.

Is the wire wrapped rear cable correct for a '61 and if so, are they available anywhere?

I searched the archives and see a thread regarding wire wrapped cables for a '58, but I wasn't sure if the cable may have changed.

I also see in the archives a recommendation for a company called Inline Tube. I checked their web site, but they don't have cables listed for my year.

My front parking brake cable is also wire wrapped, but so is the replacement cable. I wonder why the front is made correctly, but the rear is not?

I now better then to start a job without checking all the parts first, but I was excited about finishing a section - or so I thought....

    Thanks for the help.

Plastic is not correct. There is a company that from time to time offers the metal cables on ebay. The are correct including the smooth rubber boots.

I do not remember the name of the company. Hopefully some one else on this board does.

          Mke,

Thanks for the name. I have a call in to Inline Tube and if they can't help I will contact them.

I ended up ordering the cables from Motorcity Muscle Car, as Inline Tube never responded. I received the cables today and they were dropped shipped directly from Inline Tube.

The cables themselves look like an excellent copy, however, I do wonder about the end boot. The boot has 4 ridges around the circumference that were not on my original cable boots. They also were not on the reproductions that I had originally ordered from Paragon. Paragon's catalog indicates that their boots are an exact reproduction of the original. They also sell just the boots.

Should I order a pair and change them before installing the new cables?

            Thanks in advance.
