'72 TH400 kick down switch question

I've noticed that this switch doesn't return to the original (idle) position without some delay if I let up gently on the gas pedal - I can actually hear it snap back into position some seconds later.

Is this normal, or should it travel freely no matter how hard or easy I let up on the gas?

I've seen several posts on this switch, but none address how smooth it should work. If my eyes don't deceive me, it appears that there is a visible "bump" in the sliding portion that adds some friction as the switch returns to idle position.

    Thanks
    Randy

I have a switch that I have tested and seems to return position smoothly, no delay, I suggest trying to test it being sure the carb. is not causing delay and it's spring should return plunger when not activated, maybe lubing ? Hope this helps. Steve

It's definitely not the carb or linkage. I have the left cluster out and can easily work the switch manually and watch it get hung up on the return. Will try some light lubrication to see if that helps.

        Thanks!
