print color on 60 wonderbar radio

I am having my wonderbar radio restored as we speak. I was asked by the restorer what color paint is noted in the print of Wonderbar so that he could paint it appropriately. I really could not tell from looking at it. He seemed to imply that it was either white or black. Is there a way to know what it should have been by the interior color of the car?

I bought my car in brown ugly primer and did not think to ask what color it had been in the dark ages. I know the appropriate interior color was red from the dash. Can any one clarify this issue?

I paint the wonderbar letters the same color as the dial numbers........

Thanks Steve, As I sent my radio off I do not remember what my dial numbers are. I think they are white. Does it matter? I know you are a judge for 58-60 from the spinner placement (Oh no!) e-mail.

Valeria, if I remember correctly, the point of contention regarding the accent paint in the Wonderbar radio's seek button occurs with 1958 cars. The contention is whether or not early versions of the radio used white accent paint to match other adjacent dash soft trim emblems versus the black accent paint that's known to be correct for '58L through '62 cars.

Is there some reason why your WB restoration man doesn't know this and/or have NCRS judging literature?

He knows that Jack. BTW, the judging manual does not specifically state the radio trim color. People are left to infer and so the confusion continues... Perhaps a judge can submit the info for inclusion as the question continues to surface year after year.

'Not a '58-'60 Judge but I have two friends with original radios in their cars, a '59 and a '60. Their letters are black.

Wonderbar letters should be black for 1960.
