    Late 59-67 script valve covers.

How can you tell the late 59-60 script valve covers from the 61-67 script valve covers?

    Thanks.

58L-59 valve covers have attaching bolt holes 'staggered' to match the position of the the threaded inserts in the cylinder heads. 59L-67 covers are identical but with two exceptions:

    (1) All have attaching bolt holes straight across (top to bottom).

    (2) '66L-67 covers have the casting flaw (line of flash) through the 'O' in the Corvette script.

Sorry Jack but I was referring to the stamped steel ones.

It was my understanding that the staggered bolt pattern is as you say however Paragon lists three types of stamped steel script ones in their catalog.

      *1955 - early 1959
      *early 1959 - 1960
      *1961 - 1967

They don't say what the difference is between the last two "versions".

      Any ideas?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this or is Paragon wrong?

What their catalog actually says is '61 base 283 and '67 base 327 (or at least that's what my catalog says).

The ends of the EARLY (late '59 - '60) covers are straight up and down. The ends of the LATE covers are slanted

'67 base engines used a one-year-only stamped steel valve cover.

              Good point, Jim.
It is also good to note that the slant is greater (detectable) on the passenger cars, which, at a glance of an untrained eye, may appear to be the same.
More on the "Uniqueness" that John pointed out.
