Midway USA Chapter Judging Retreat Aug 15

Attended a Judging Retreat conducted by the new Midway USA Chapter in Wichita, Ks on Sat (Aug 22). Three very nice Corvettes provided by the Chapter Members were used to conduct the Judging Retreat training. Hats off to the Oklahoma Chapter for bringing at least six Members to support and work with the Midway USA Chapter Members. They had a good Chapter turn out. Coffee doughnuts, refreshments and food were provided by Chapter Members. It was keen to see excited and exuberant Members of this new Chapter get involved with the NCRS Judging process. Some of the Midway USA Chapter Members are low four digit Members, while others are brand new to NCRS. Congratulations to Kurt Geis, Tracy Crisler and the other Chapter Members for a nice event. Special thanks to Dallas Keller for providing his nice air conditioned shop with lifts for the session. Gary....

      Rick

Normally I would say someone was there is "mind", "body" and "spirit". I guess Gary was there is "M--D", "body", and "spirit". The date portion of the MIND must have been missing when he wrote his comments. The date really was August 15th.

We do appreciate Gary's kind comments about the Oklahoma Chapter participation. We had a great time assisting the Midway USA Chapter. They have a great group of members, who may have been a little reluctant at first, but jumped in with both feet and did a great job. I hope to see a lot of them on the Judging Field at some Regionals and Nationals in the future.

        Gary,

I've struggled for several minutes here to put into words the sense of gratitiude I have for the help we recieved from you and the others with this retreat. I'm really at a loss to find the right way to express the way I feel.

I have to pinch myself as I read down the sign in sheet.

        From the Oklahoma Chaper:

        Roy Sinor
        Verle Randolph
        Gene Holtz
        Michael Aichele
        Scott Pfuehler
        Russ Grimm
        Joe & Jill Provenzano
        Brett Driscoll

        and from Texas:

        Bob Demmel
        Gary Chestnut

Yup,...a literal dream team came to Wichita to walk us through the basics as we mock judged Carl Alters's 61 Fuelie, Joe Elliot's 64 Convertible, and Kurt Geis's 72 coupe. Our members got "one on one" coaching from some of the most knowledgable Corvette people in the world.

It was a fantastic day; Thank you all again,

        tc

Thank you for the kind comments.

As Tracy noted, we appreciate the wonderful support given the Midway USA Chapter at this Judging Retreat. I also appreciate efforts of these folks in helping to establish our Chapter in the first place. Thank you.

Re: Midway USA Chapter Judging Retreat Aug 15

I really can't find much more to say about the chapter judging retreat (school) that hasn't already been said, other than to publicly add my thanks and deepest appreciation to the guys and gals from the Oklahoma chapter that have been so helpful in getting the members of our chapter enthused about the judging of cars. The event on August 15 was the second time the Oklahoma chapter has been in Wichita to help our new chapter, which is still on probationary status by the way, learn what it takes to get a car to top flight, and about the judging process. Each time, the OK guys have left their homes in the wee hours of the morning to drive to Wichita to help our members become educated in the ways of judging. Without their help and support our chapter would probably still be fumbling around trying to figure out which way was up.

My hat is off to the Oklahoma chapter members. These guys really know how to not only enjoy the hobby, but are not afraid to share their vast experience with the new guys. Hopefully our chapter will some day be able to reciprocate the hospitality and knowledge shared by the guys to our south.

Many thanks again, Brett and team.
