    1960 heater hose sizes

What is the proper size diameter for the heater hoses for a 60?

I think the one from the water pump to the copper elbow(most outboard on the firewall) is 3/4"...right?

The other one from the intake to the heater control valve I thought was 5/8" but I'm not sure now. I ordered a hose kit from ZIP and those were the two sizes they sent me. The 5/8" hose fits properly to the intake but it's too big for the heat control valve so I'm not sure where the problem is.

FYI When I bought the car the heater hoses and fittings were missing and the water pump and intake had plugs installed so I don't have much to go on.

    Thanks.

they sent you the correct hose sizes, sounds like you are missing the 90 degree copper elbow/adapter, zip, ccentral and all the other sell them

I have one 90 degree copper elbow/adapter that is installed in the 3/4" hose on the passenger side of the firewall on the outboard side. It connects the 3/4" hose from the water pump to the hose from the lower connection on the heater core. This section of the heater system "seems" to be okay...at least it all fits well.

The problem I'm having is that the 5/8" hose from the intake manifold is too large for the tube from the heater control valve that sticks through the firewall into the engine compartment. It's a reproduction valve but the tube is the same size as the original one that I removed. Are you saying that I need another or special adapter to connect the 5/8" hose to this tube on the heat control valve?

I got this one figured out. It turns out that ZIP actually sent me the wrong size hose after all. It might be a metric equivilant or what ever but I had a real 5/8" hose on my shelf and it fits perfect.

Don't you all just love those repop parts!
