By "early" I mean the first 1000 - any reports out there of casting 3869942 with 2 BOLT MAIN BEARINGS being built as a 450/425 HP?

Re: Early '66 450/425
Never heard that the team mambers couldn't comment, Loren and some do regularly. I was a member of the team that redid the (should have been out one year age but I believe available now) most recent version of the '66 Judging Manual, and No-one ever mentioned to possibility of a two bolt on an early 427/450 engine. The manual instructs the judges to verify the presence of the oil cooler fittings on the high horse engine, as it is hard to see the main bolts with the pan on. Two bolt block on high horse version was never mentioned as anyone having seen an example, at least in my recollection.Last edited by William C.; August 12, 2009, 07:03 PM.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Early '66 450/425
i had an early 942 block, 4 bolt main, but the interesting aspect of the oct 65 cast 942 was the Presence of the pair of gussetts cast on the front face of the block like the 65 396 ci 962 blocks all had. mike.- Top

Here's an early '66 L72 (VIN 224), that was for sale at Spring Knoxville, back around 1992, IIRC.
942 block cast F_2_5, but doesn't mention 2 or 4 bolts. Also has the new '858' heads. A lot of carry-over 396 stuff under the hood. His expansion tank should have been at least a 65G, though.
