1971 - Rally Wheel Dates - Need Help

Greetings All,

Car is a '71 with a very late Dec '70 build date (Christmas week!). I have 2 "AZ" wheels on the car dated K-1-0 1 31 (assuming January 31, 1970) and 2 "AZ" wheels dated K-1-3 7 27 (assuming July 27, 1973).

I have to guess that the K-1-3's were a switch somewhere along the way, but could the K-1-0's with the January date be original to the car? Goes against the 6 month prior rule I know.

Now, for the mystery spare! The spare is an "FW" wheel sporting a K-1-6 11 16 date. It also has an extremely bald G70-15 Firestone Super Sport Wide Oval attached to it, which at one time had a 1974 dated repair sticker that has since disintegrated! What car is that wheel from?

In addition to the above inquiries, what is the maximum, acceptable date or furthest date out I should go to replace the spare?

You want a wheel made less than six months prior to your car's build date, although 2-8 weeks is more "typical". The "FW" wheel is from a Monte Carlo.

The first 1970 Corvettes were built in the middle of January and the 1971 Corvettes began in August, so all the AZ wheels you have are off for your car.
