    C1 exhaust pipes

I am seeing dark exhaust residue on the rear end of my car underneath the exhaust pipes. I've noticed that the exhaust pipes on some other c1's extend out beyond the chrome bumper. Mine do not. Can anyone tell me which is correct.

Just eyeballing the AIM, I don't see a spec, but it looks like they are about 1&1/2 inch beyond the body panel. I know many owners make sure they stick out past the end of the bumper to reduce corrosion problems in the bumper itself.

I thought their position was causing the problem. Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I'll have it taken care of.

I believe the recommended amount is 1/8 - 1/4" beyond the edge of the bumper, right?

Ian, Do you have any idea where I might be able to reference the recommended projection distance?

            Valeria -

There is no documented dimension for that; many owners have learned over the years to have them project slightly past the edge of the bumper so the corrosive condensate at cold-start doesn't dribble down inside the chrome bumper and rust it out from the inside.

Does anyone know of an exhaust pipe extender that fits on the ends of the exhaust pipe to extend them beyond the bumper?

This might do the trick for $45, not correct. You'd want to be sure they'd actually fit in the bumper :
                Look pretty bling.

But Corvette Central sells just the tailpipe for $85 (321623)
                I'd rather do that.
