Z06 front shocks

I have one front shock out of the Z06 we're working on that appears to be original.
It is the correct PN, 3171488, with all of the correct markings, (Pliacell, Delco Products , Dayton etc.)but the date code is 8D62 which seems very early for a late April 63 car. Could this be the original shock? Was 3171488 ever used on a 62?
