    90 Judging Question

Since Killeen will be the first time I have had this car judged, I'd appreciate some guidance. Mine is a two-top coupe (transparent and painted). The Judging Manual almost sounds like both tops are needed at the judging, although I know that only one is judged. Could someone smarter than me clear this up?

For flight judging, only one is judged and that is your choice. For PV, both are required.

I have never looked at a 90 JG. Do you only judge one top on a two top coupe ? I would prefer to see a C2L car presented with both. The glass top was shipped in the back and painted top was in place when delivered to the dealer.

There is no deduct if C2L code is present and only one top is displayed ? Just asking since I've never judged or seen the guide for the C4's.

I know convertibles only require one top, but never knew the deal for a coupe.

Tom, you have raised an interesting question, and I admit my answer was based on earlier models. My chapter has used the 1991-2 JG at only one meet, and I admit I have not read it. Maybe Tom Barr, the team leader, will chime in on this.

Just my opinion, which is worthless....... but I think a C2L option 2 top coupe should be shown with both.

I just happen to have my 90-91 TIM&JG handy. According to page 86, only the top installed on the car is to be judged, even if the SPI label shows a 2 top option (C2L). Sounds like even if the second top is stowed in the rear compartment, it is not judged.

                Re: 90 Judging Question

The JG text is in accordance with the NCRS Judging Reference Manual rules. See Section 2, Rule 21, Vehicle Display For Judging.

On making the car 100% as factory built and delivered, there are a number of places where our judging standards provide for deviation. Consider the addition of seat belts for pre-58 model years, anti-theft devices, battery cut-off switch, NCRS window sticker, cleaning Chevy orange off the stamp pads of pre-60 cars, Etc.
