I would say within easy reach and know how to use it. Buy a cheap one and use it on a trial run on other than your car. Local Fire departments would gladly show you. Great P/R work for them.

I carry two on the floor (each side) between the seat & door. You can't be too prepared! Don H.

I mounted mine on the floor between the seat and the door sill.

I put mine on the floor beside the driver's seat and the door. There's a little space there that fits most of the extinguisher.

I also put Velcro on my extinguisher - the side with the barbs (not the soft side). Your local hardware store sells strips of Velcro that have an adhesive on the back. Just stick the barbed side on the extinguisher. The Velcro (and the attached extinguisher) will then stick to the carpet. BE CAREFUL IF YOU DO THIS. Don't move the extinguisher around. Every time you pull up the extinguisher the barbed Velcro will pull up some carpet strands. After a few moves, the carpet in that spot will look "fuzzy."

Chris, Thanks for that great innovative idea! I have some sticky velcro and will implement that mounting in my car. I wish I would have thought of it.
