    Must sale '62 & '66 Vettes (divorce!!!)

OK, after 36 years of marriage, wife finally decides it's over. I'm pressed with selling my prize possesions. A 1962 Covette, Hardtop Only, original 340hp HP 327, with original BW 4-spd transmission. My 1966 Coupe has original block 300 hp 327 (GM Goodwrench crate motor for driving), but Muncie 4-Speed transmission is a 1968. Other than that, all is there. How/Where do I go to sale ??? Crying in Seattle.

An ad in the Driveline would be a good start, or if you are in a hurry, a lot of pictures and a run at the major online auction house is worth a try, the cost is pretty reasonable, sale or no-sale, or at least it was a few years ago when I helped an old-timer in poor health dispose of his Mustang.

Craying in Seattle. I feel for you pal. I wouldn't be in too much of a rush to sell your pride and joys though. Don't get too excited yet. With no fault 50-50 divorce it can take up to 3 yrs and then some.
Don't give the cars away. Take your time. By the time you each get a couple of attorneys and fire a couple it's gonna be a long haul. Good luck, JD

if she has filed you probley cant sell them so set back and relax.
you could end up with both of them in the end.
friend of my went through a divorce and he got both of his
        40 ford and 62 fuelie.
down side was he has to pay for storage since she got house.

William is correct. You have to get permission from the courts to sell anything that's marital property. Court order or something like that. Typically that comes under the marriage settlement agreement (MSA). When the couple has that agreement done and it's recorded in the court house with explicit instructions then you make the moves. Then you divide crap or sell it off.

I was a divorce attorney in my utter life. Yeah rite. LOL

If she wants out, let her take a hike. Keep your cars and your sanity and you'll be better off without her

Sorry to hear of the divorce. 36 years is a lot of time to just be kicked to the curb. I was lucky, divorced after only three years, but spent 16 years in court fighting over every possible thing concerning my daughter. Good luck with the mess you've found yourself in. Above advice is probably accurate - everything is pretty much locked down until the judge gets his say.

I agree with the guys......don't be too quick to unload anything. If she is filing (and she should be the one) and wants out badly enough, you can use your cars as bargaining chips.
It's a poker game from here on out.....don't show your hand too quickly.
Doesn't seem like it right now, but there's a good life waiting for you.
                Good luck, Sandy

All the above is good advice and experience talking. One can't force someone to stick around if that's not what they want to do. That happened to me but the marriage was of short duration. It only takes one to set a divorce in motion.

The old cliche of keeping things 'amicable', now that the hammer has dropped, definitely applies. Should she go on the warpath - you don't want it! .. . Things can/will get real messy (read $$$$$$) real quick when lawyers duke it out back and forth, in court.

You will probably have to get the vehicles appraised, and I suggest you hire the appraiser since they tend to side with the person they are working for. Problem is she might get an appraiser too and then the judge will split the two appraisals and put a value to them. It all comes down to dollars and cents. Once you get a value, then you can decide if you want them on your side of the settlement or sell them. In case you cant tell Ive been there just 4 years ago. It is going to get better trust me......

                      Hi Don,
I've been trying to reach you via several different ways with no success. Hope all is well. I bought the 66 and I'm still trying to get the remainders of the parts that per agreement you will send to me.
It has been over 6 months since the transaction. Please help. Thank you.

To side with either party is unethical. An appraisal is to be without bias from any party involved. Normally if there are two appraisers involved, the judge will have a third party review the appraisals before determining value.

Today I just finished and delivered an appraisal for a divorce. Two weeks worth of work. Working for the wife. When I handed her the appraisal she told me that hubby had decided to walk away from everything, house, contents, major woodworking shop, pickup load of mechanics tools.

Even though the names don't seem to match, assuming you are directing his to the person who listed the cars for sale it is always helpful to check the profile. The information below seems to suggest you may not contact him through here since his membership expired September of last year and he hasn't logged on here since April 11 2010.
