Re: 72 blower motor w. a/c
There's really no call for suppliers to tool up to 'repro' the heater fan. I think you'll find that Corvette wasn't 'unique' in this aspect versus other Chevy passenger cars of the era. The typical 'hit' for a decent used/original fan assy from a scrap yard car from the same era is $10-20.
And, YES, the A/C version of the heater fan differed from the non-A/C fan. The A/C version sported a hole on the LH side of the motor case to accept a cooling tube that connected to the Harrison air box...- Top

Re: 72 blower motor w. a/c
I have no idea of what it is that Paragon's selling. I do know that the fan assy's flange was date coded (starting in '65) in addition to having PN embossed on it.
I PRESUME this practice continued into the early 70's... So, if Paragon's advertizing a 'correct' reproduction, does their descriptive text include mention of the buyer's need to supply information (model year + VIN) to get the date code to match?
Bottom line, heater fans are pretty hearty critters. A good used assy should perform and last at a reasonable cost. One key to checking operation absent putting power to the fan, is spinning the squirrel cage by hand.
If it turns freely, the odds are VERY good the used fan assy is perfectly functional. If its frozen or turns with HIGH friction, go find another one. Taking these apart to replace bearings and/or brushes in the DC motor is NOT fun...- Top
