Marker Lens Glue

While cleaning and polishing my rear marker lights, I noticed that one lens was loose. It's now out, cleaned and ready to go back together. Can anyone suggest an appropriate glue to glue the lens back into the chrome housing? The original glue dried almost solid, unlike silicone.

Seems to me that clear RTV (silicone caulk) should do the job nicely...
