I don't want to beat a dead horse but: I Read the previous threads on 63 wheels . Printed out the pictures and took them with me to purchase a set of 4 -63 steel wheels. The wheels are exact to pictures and Specs. The original tires were still on them General JetAir. The problem is when I broke them Down the date code is different than pictures in previous threads. Everything else inside is there. There is no month under the 5 in 5x15 1/2 but there is what appears to be a 3 under the 15. But the 3 is somewhat tilted to the right about 10 to 15 degrees. Can anyone tell me if they have seen anything like this? Maybe a bad stamp. I dont Know. Seller said they from his January build 63. Took pictures but did not print out yet. Has anyone heard of this bad stamp????

Re: 63 Steel Wheels Again
I just checked my 63/64 wheels. I have the month under the "X" in the 15X15 1/2 and year (63) under the "1/2". All the numbers are tilted to some extent; some more than others. One stamping is right on the crease and the imprint is very faint and difficult to read. I would think that a Jan built 63 would have a wheel dated in 62 but 63 is possible if it was built later in the month. If they are a perfect match with the pics that others have posted then I would think that you have the correct wheels. They have some fairly distinct qualities and it sounds like you have done your homework. If you posted some pics I'm sure someone could tell you for sure. Jim- Top

Re: 63 Steel Wheels Again
Agree with Jim, post some pics for us to look at, I bet it's just a bad stamp. I have two 63 wheels that don't have any date stamp but they are correct in all respects.- Top

Re: 63 Steel Wheels Again
These are a couple of my wheels. As you said, the date stamp is slightly different but otherwise, it looks like the correct wheel to me. Notice that the second picture has the date stamped right on the bend of the metal. I had to get a magnifying glass to read it. It was the one "oddball" stamp of the five wheels that were on my car.Attached Files- Top

Re: 63 Steel Wheels Again
Jim Iwas concerned by the date code missing but looks like all the wheels have the same partial markings. I needed to double check myself. I was told the production change was just prior to January of 63. Sounds like other people had missing dates or partial numbers. Thanks- Top
