    Pna bolt torque?

What is the proper torque for the pan bolts on a SB. I was adding the spark plug wire clips under the pan bolts and the only reference I could find was in chapter 8 of the Passenger Car supplement and it said 12 - 14 lbs ft. That can't be right. What is?

That seems a little high, but I have no readily available specs for your model year.

    The '63 shop manual says 6-8 ft-# for the 1/4-20s and 9-12 ft-# for the 5/16-18s. The '66 manual presents the torque in in-#, and states 65 for 1/4-20s & 80 for 5/16-18s (327 cubic inch engine). That converts to 5.4 & 6.6 ft-#, respectively.

Thanks for the info Jeff. That sounds more reasonable.

Bob, I am pretty sure it's inch lbs. be careful just snug keeps the gasket in tact.

Do not overtighten. Not fun to get a broken one out.
