Hi Dutch, The grill is not easy to examine while in the car. I could not see any numbers. Should you find otherwise, I will look again.

Agree with Ken; very difficult to completely examine while in the car. Nevertheless, got out my light and mirror and ran my fingers over just about the entire surface, and could not see a casting symbol or number.

However this grille was installed about 1970, so it's a service unit for '65-7. Still, I'd expect to see something .

Looks like I need to go public with the information I provided to you in the PM you requested.
Yes, the '66-7 grills have a "unique" part number 3875746 about 1/8" in height cast into the inside of the top bar just off center to the passenger side.
It can be located with a mirror while the grill is in place on the car.

Mike -- Found it ! But not at the location you described [maybe it's like that pesky '65 grille "D & L" stamping that is found at random locations].

Mine's on the BOTTOM surround, inside lip, and about 1.5 inches to the DRIVER side of the bottom cast center bracket, which you can see on the right edge of 1st the photo.

2 pics below: first shows the cast # upside down; you can see the licence plate and mounting bracket in the background. 2nd pic, I flipped it 180 degrees to read the detail on the cast #; is the last digit a '6' flipped backwards ?

Mike, thanks for the pictures. I'm still looking. Is it on the inside lip of the top chrome ledge,. about how far over from the middle holding tab. Can you take a picture of the whole grill and point to the spot? thanks, MIKE . SOME TIMES I need a little more direction . DUTCH

One of my favorite things about this hobby is "looking for the numbers." I never knew the 1966 grille had a part number on it. BUT I FOUND IT!! Pretty cool. Wayne M., mine was exactly where you said it would be, on the lower horizontal bottom edge behind the lip, just a little to the driver's side of center. 3875746. Nice. I checked an older version of the JM and it doesn't list any part number for the grille. Thanks for the info. Keep the trivial details coming!!

Well I just found my grill casting number on the lower surround lip to the right of the center. Oh happy findings! I have to learn how to post pictures, because I have many numbers to share and compare. Thanks for all the interest. DUTCH
